My name is Chloë Honoré and I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. Illustration and design have always been my passions and after school I went on to study at Chelsea Art College and London College of Fashion. I then worked as a celebrity, beauty and fashion make-up artist, using my creativity to design artistic looks for the stars.
After ten years in that industry, I decided to go back to my roots and swap my make-up brushes for paint brushes. I now work from home as a designer, creating images for the home decor, stationary and gift industries. Hence doing the London Art College Illustrating Childrens Book Diploma Course. My three young daughters, Danish husband and the beautiful Somerset countryside, inspire me daily to create fresh, vibrant and happy art.
This is the first part of the first assignment for the Children’s Book Illustration course. I have always loved watercolour….it is definitely my favourite choice of medium. I really listened to the brief and tried to breath life into my cutouts. I did this by making them look like there was a breeze blowing throw the grasses and flowers. I was also very aware of leaving enough space between each shape. I could have kept cutting away and adding more but had to hold myself back!!
Having three daughters allows me to spend a lot of time reading them beautiful children’s books which I am constantly inspired by. I absolutely loved this part of the brief and cannot wait to get cracking with Row Row Row Your Boat! I think I am going to try to do some sort of cut out for that as well!
