Patricia Elliott

I enrolled onto the London Art College Landscape course because I wanted to develop my skills, and learn more about landscapes. For me landscapes have always been a very difficult subject to create.

I found the course to be a challenging, in depth and very helpful; covering all the key features of landscapes that I had found hard to paint previously.

The structured approach really helped me understand compositional details, utilising sketches & thumbnails and the feedback was really useful as I worked through the units developing my own style.

I am amazed that not only did I complete the course, but I received a Distinction for my efforts. I must thank Paul Weaver for his encouragement and guidance.

I currently specialise in pet and wildlife portraits, and landscapes are an essential element to the portraits I want to create in the future.

Not only do I now have the skills to add a background to my portraits. I now have the confidence to tackle a wide range of landscapes which I hope to sell alongside my wildlife portraits at the Coquetdale Art Centre in Rothbury Northumberland and in the Lake District.

Overall, I would recommend the course to all artists that wish to learn new skills. It was an enjoyable experience and certainly worth the effort.
