Christmas Card Countdown 1st

Welcome to the start of our Christmas Card Challenge Countdown! Every day in December, we will be sharing a Christmas Card created by our students from last weekends art challenge. It is running through the entire month so keep sending your cards in to us to be featured along with text about your work, or whatever you would like posted to go along side!

We are thrilled to kick things off with a stunning piece by Gergana Stoyanova, who was the runner-up in this year’s art competition, showcasing her incredible skill and creativity. Gergana shared her thoughts about the piece, which you can read below. We hope you enjoy her work as much as we do, and we can’t wait to reveal more festive artwork tomorrow!

The work is one of the first works in my portfolio I started this year to get into book illustration. I’ve always imagined a mice families living their tiny secret life in cosy places in libraries. In Bulgaria we have a saying “book mouse” or “книжен плъх” that we use equivalent to the “book worm” saying in English so I decided to play with words a little bit and create an illustration out of it.
