Jo Allsopp

Jo Allsopp completed our Children’s Book Illustration course in 2001, which once completed, gave her the motivation to train as a tutor specialising in watercolours. She has just released a new book called Loose and Lively Animals in Watercolour, Ink and Mixed Media via Search Press.

With a rich background in art education and a thriving gallery space at Moira Furnace Museum, Jo invites readers to capture the spirit of wildlife through her dynamic and expressive style.

Jo’s artistic journey began over 20 years ago when she founded Sable Studio Gallery. For the past 15 years, her gallery space at Moira Furnace Museum has become a focal point for art enthusiasts, nestled in a picturesque courtyard by the canal.

As a qualified art tutor, Jo has been instrumental in shaping the artistic endeavours of her students through regular watercolour painting classes, workshops, and painting holidays in the South of France.

In 2019, Jo Allsopp’s artistic prowess was showcased on BBC One’s art TV series “Home Is Where the Art Is” with presenter Nick Knowles. This exposure led to a broader reach and a collaborative relationship with the SAA (The Society for All Artists). Jo’s live streaming workshops with the SAA have garnered significant attention, consistently ranking among the top-viewed artists.

Jo Allsopp’s upcoming book, Loose and Lively Animals in Watercolour, Ink, and Mixed Media, is a testament to her distinctive approach to art. With a focus on texture, experimentation and movement, the book provides a comprehensive guide for artists of all levels to explore their creativity and capture the essence of animals in a loose and lively manner.

Jo Allsopp set up Sable Studio Gallery in the grounds of Moira Furnace Museum. From her gallery space she sells her watercolour paintings, mosaics, cards, jewellery and giftware.
