2 AWARDS AT PATCHINGS ART FESTIVAL 2019
I’m delighted to announce that my watercolour ‘Underfall Boat Yard, Bristol’ has received 2 awards at this year’s exhibition and competition in ‘The Artist’ Professional category at the Patchings Art Centre in Nottingham.
I’ve always found harbours and boat yards inspiring places to paint and earlier this year, I gained permission to paint in the Underfall Yard in the heart of Bristol harbour, with the ambition of finding a subject for this event. It’s a superb location and I was immediately taken with this view of a boat under repair with a foreground of quayside clutter.
I produced several sketches and a watercolour study onsite, then used this as my reference to paint the larger piece back in the studio.
The painting has been awarded one of 3 Daler-Rowney Awards and I have also been selected as one of 10 artists’ to take part in a finalists’ show at Patchings Art Centre next year.
The judges only select 70 works from an international submission, so I feel very honoured to have gained a place on the wall, let alone 2 awards!
