Ingrid Van Duikeren

We are delighted to feature three beautiful paintings today by student Ingrid Van Duikeren, who is currently working through our Watercolour Diploma Course with tutor Steven Hersey.

Ingrid’s work is full of atmosphere. She enjoys placing people within interesting everyday settings. Her paintings, whether of a busy market, city streets, or an art gallery visit, capture not only the light and colour of the scene, but also the subtle interactions and stories of the figures within them.

In her notes to her tutor, Ingrid reflected on the direction of her painting and how the assignments have helped her grow. She commented on how much she enjoys capturing “people in a setting”, finding them a source of pleasant inspiration and motivation. Her thoughtful reflections show just how deeply she’s engaging with her work and the feedback she receives.

Ingrid also shared how this course has helped her regain confidence in her artistic process. She mentioned that feedback reassures her and helps bring clarity to her work:

“Your feedback gives me reassurance in knowing, and the assignments and theory are helping me to be more conscious in the approach.”

Originally from the Netherlands, Ingrid has taken local courses in the past, but this online journey is allowing her to challenge herself more deeply. She expressed how the course has reignited her love of the watercolour medium, describing it as “so pure, so clean.” We couldn’t agree more, Ingrid’s work radiates that same purity and freshness.

We’re so proud of Ingrid’s progress and can’t wait to see more from her as she continues through the course.
