Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge where we set our students the task of creating artwork on the subject of Pandas! This week’s challenge brought an outbreak of panda-monium (Thank you to Catherine T for her panda-monium artwork!) in the best way possible! Our students were asked to draw or paint pandas and the results are simply fantastic.
The black and white markings of these wonderful animals made for some really striking compositions. From realistic studies to fun and playful interpretations, each panda has so much personality. Whether it’s a panda balancing drinks on roller skates, peeking through bamboo, or just being delightfully fluffy, we’ve loved seeing each and every one.
A big thank you to all of our students who took part. We really enjoyed this one and we hope you did too. Scroll down to see the brilliant artworks and prepare to smile!
A new challenge will be announced tomorrow, so don’t forget to check back and join in again. Well done everyone!
This is panda-monium II!!! It’s based on the idea of my first work, and I think it works better with the colour added and the pandas placed better in the piece!! Catherine TBai Yun (White Cloud) was the first female giant panda who was born at the Wolong Giant Panda Research Center. She lived at the San Diego Zoo for 20 years. Ozlem EHere is my drawing of some cool beatnik pandas for the panda challenge – I was thinking that if anyone has a reason to feel in a permanent state of existential angst, it’s the giant panda… AliciaThis is my entry for this weekends challenge. I’ve called it panda monium for obvious reasons it’s made using pen and ink Catherine TI’ve used just children’s paints for this cheerful soul. Nina PLittle red panda, with mainly watercolour on Bockingford CP 300 gsm paper. I used white and black pens also. Reference photo from pixabay free photo. Ni NiPanda: Pastels on pastel paper. Rosalind. With gouache on A4 size Bockingford CP watercolour paper. Ni NiI painted the panda with Dr. Ph. Martin’s Black Star Waterproof India Ink, using a round watercolor brush and a filbert grainer. For the colours of the butterfly I used Jupitearth ultra-silky twistable crayons for toddlers. (I bought them for my grandkids, love them for myself as well.) I painted on Bee Paper Company Artist Marker Paper (Super smooth). LinnI’ve been really busy and, therefore, not really able to take part in the challenges, but this week I just couldn’t resist, so here’s a quick digital illustration.
