Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge where we would love for our students to dig out their pot plants and draw or paint them. Not literally but wed like to see you have a go and capturing them on paper or canvas. From potted herbs in your kitchen window, to a your Cactus, Bonsai or Mother-in-Laws Tongue. However big or small, we would love to see a plant in a pot.
You can draw or paint your plant or plants in any medium at any size including a background if you desire. If you don’t have access to a plant at home, we have added some photos for you to use.
Botanical artists – this is a great opportunity for us to see your beautifully detailed paintings or drawings creating leaves in your own style of work.
Illustration students – why not make it more illustrative. Why not sketch in pen and markers a number of plants in different designed pots filling the page. Be experimental. Be bold and bring your own style into your work.
We look forward to seeing your artwork, if you are a budding pot plant owner, why not take a photo of your collection of plants. Maybe they even have names! Let us know!

All of the photos we post on our London Art College Weekend Challenges are copyright free. Feel free to use the artwork you produce however you wish. If you would like your artwork posted here on our blog, email it to Melanie at techsupport@londonartcollege.co.uk. If you have any Weekend Challenge requests let us know too! Best of luck and happy drawing and painting!

For those who are new to our challenges, we post them every Friday, so that students have a chance to pick up their pencils, pens, brushes or tablets to create artwork in their downtime over the weekend.
The results are the posted here on our blog on the following Thursday.
We love it when students add text to go along side the artwork, we will always post it on the blog if included.

The idea of these challenges is to help students improve their skills by drawing, painting and creating regularly.
So try to submit work that you have created specifically for the challenge – or course work you are currently creating for your art course. Sometimes our challenge themes cross over with what students are learning. Our challenges are great practive for your coursework too!
Remember to submit your artwork to us via email if you would like it posted on our blog next week.
