Anita van Lent-van de Klashorst

My name is Anita and I recently passed with Merit from the Botanical Painting course.

Before I started this course I was making patterns in watercolour paint, based on botanical subjects, what interests me very much. I really wanted to improve my botanical skills for making better patterns and saw this course as a great opportunity. This course taught me a lot of discipline to work in detail with watercolour, but also mixing colours, so I could better choose for which part of the plant, which fruit or vegetable I could use these colours, and I learned a lot more.

My inspiration comes from the beautiful flowers I come across when I’m going for a walk in nature, the flowers in my garden or visiting botanical gardens. We also used to have an allotment garden where I saw the fruit and vegetables grow. That was very special to see. In the future I would like to make patterns again in watercolour, with what I have learned in this course, but I also want to keep learning. My both teachers Polly and Grainne where a great help to me!

Anita has a strong design aesthetic and is developing a beautiful personal style. Her vibrant compositions are a joy to see and always make me smile.
