Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge where we set our students the task of creating a painting or drawing using a single colour. It’s a lots tricker than you might think but it was a very popular challenge! We have received some amazing pieces from our students which we hope you enjoy viewing below. Stay tuned for the next challenge coming tomorrow!
The painting is attached, from an original photo taken by me, and it’s titled: ‘Guinevere sculpture in woods near Lassay, France’ Painted using Raw Umber Karen WMy Dad in the RAF in 1950, when he was 18 years old. Lynda SIpomoea nil (Morning glory) Ozlem EFor this challenge I used black paper stuck on to textured paper. On the black paper I used oil pastels and on the textured paper I used chalk pastels. I chose to draw an apple. Nina PWeekend one colour challenge, cottage in paynes grey watercolour. Vincent DElephant in Zambia. Pastel and charcoal. Dinah BI limited myself to only using the green pencils in my possession. That meant no mixing greens from other colour combinations and as a result was quite limiting but thoroughly enjoyable. Heather KColoured Pencil Serena GMy little frog with watercolour and some pastel pencils. Ni NiThis ink drawing is only 4 cm tall. (Payne’s Gray, my favorite.) The cat on the left was a lucky accident. LinnHappy New Year to all. I really enjoy the weekend challenges, especially as I have just finished the drawing and painting course. Gina DLotus at Night (After Hiroshige) Ozlem EMy cat Sandi is a grey and white cat. This is with watercolour. I only use Paynes Grey. I used white pen for highlights and whiskers. Ni NiMy submission for the weekend art challenge called “Snow scene in red”. It’s a step away from my comfort zone as it’s mixed media (acrylic, oil pastel and coloured pencil) and landscape. Anthony SMonochrome Challenge Ozlem EOne colour; pastels RosalindOne is an illustration of the song lyrics for ‘Baobhan Sith’ and the other is for the limerick ‘There once was a man from Nantucket’. The first was just done in pen and ink whilst the second used pen and ink and watercolour. Alice R
