Weekend Art Challenge Results – One Colour!

Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge where we set our students the task of creating a painting or drawing using a single colour. It’s a lots tricker than you might think! We have received some amazing pieces from our students which we hope you enjoy viewing below.

I limited myself to only using the green pencils in my possession. That meant no mixing greens from other colour combinations and as a result was quite limiting but thoroughly enjoyable.

This ink drawing is only 4 cm tall. (Payne’s Gray, my favorite.) The cat on the left was a lucky accident.

My cat Sandi is a grey and white cat. This is with watercolour. I only use Paynes Grey. I used white pen for highlights and whiskers.

My submission for the weekend art challenge called “Snow scene in red”. It’s a step away from my comfort zone as it’s mixed media (acrylic, oil pastel and coloured pencil) and landscape.

One is an illustration of the song lyrics for ‘Baobhan Sith’ and the other is for the limerick ‘There once was a man from Nantucket’. The first was just done in pen and ink whilst the second used pen and ink and watercolour.
