Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge. This week we set our students the task to paint anything they would like as long as it was only using three colours. Sounds easy but it is actually quite tricky. Of course students could use any tonal range within that one colour.
So for instance, looking at Anthony’s amazing painting below, he has used a range of greens for the apple and this was allowed. The purple background has a wide range of tones within it too, from light purple to very dark. This enables the artist to not only add depth into the piece but also light too which provides scope for three dimensional form and realism.
If you haven’t had a go at this challenge yet, we would really encourage you to try it out. Let us know how you get on. And of course another challenge will be on its way soon!
