Our Botanical Coloured Pencil Illustration course is a diploma course that teaches students how to portray flowers and plants using coloured pencils. One of our students, Maria Murphy, is working on the course currently and has created some amazing artwork for her most recent set. She has drawn two stunning pieces, three apples and a beet plant.
The three apples are vibrant in colour, with a wide range of red tones that create depth and realism. Maria has used a smooth and even application of coloured pencils, building up the colours gradually and blending them well. She has also paid attention to the light source, creating highlights and shadows that make the apples look three-dimensional.
The beet plant illustration is equally stunning, with delicate and detailed leaves that are luminous in green. Maria has used a variety of green hues to capture the different shades and textures of the leaves, as well as some darker accents to suggest veins and edges.
Maria’s tutor, Polly O’Leary, was delighted with her work and praised her for her skill and creativity. Polly is an award-winning botanical artist who has exhibited her work internationally and teaches students how to use coloured pencils effectively for botanical art.
Maria’s work is an example of what students can achieve with the London Art College Course Botanical Coloured Pencil Illustration. If you are interested in learning more about our course or seeing more student artwork, you can visit our London Art College website or our student gallery.
