As a child I always loved to draw and dance. As I reached my teens the dancing became a huge part of my life and eventually I became a professional ballet dancer so art took a bit of a back seat.
As I have grown older my love for the arts has never stopped and it was during lock down as my Pilates business shut for a while I discovered London College of Art and I signed up for the Drawing and Painting course.
As with dancing I have learnt how practising technique is of the utmost important but also I discovered a passion especially for watercolour which medium was totally new to me. Infact the different painting mediums was my favourite unit. I struggled with the oil painting at first but with some excellent guidance from Paul Weaver a lot of practise and determination I fell in love with the oils.
I also found working with shading fascinating having never done this before. How light and shade can bring a drawing to life was amazing to see.
I was lucky in the last unit knowing about the anatomy from a dancing and teaching Pilates perspective and again I must admit to becoming obsessive with drawing different parts of the anatomy whenever I could find the time.
The whole course was a big learning curve and I have loved everything about it.
Paul Weaver is an excellent and intuitive professional artist who’s teaching and continuous encouragement was not only amazing but humbling too. He is very talented and such a lovely person.
He brought out in me a love for art that I want to continue and develop. A huge thank you to him and the London Art College for everything.
