Weekend Art Challenge – Penguins

Welcome to our latest weekend art challenge and this has to be the cutest one for a while. We have received a whole host of penguin paintings and drawings and all are very different form the next. It’s marvellous how each student can produce such a unique and interesting piece based on the same topic.

We have chosen Dinah Barkers ‘King Penguins’ as our featured image this week. Dinah said – ‘I felt these King Penguins needed to be semi abstract with their beautiful patterns’. Dinah painted them in acrylic which is the perfect medium for this style and design of painting.

We would also like to note the painting below by student Rebecca Roebuck, who has submitted her first weekend challenge. The painting is absolutely superb and we are sure that our students will take inspiration from the way that Rebecca has painted it. The limited pallet Rebecca has used really adds to the feel of the piece, its very thought provoking.

We hope that you have all enjoyed this weeks challenge, stay tuned for another tomorrow!

This is my weekend challenge – penguins. I used black and very light touches of navy water colour. I titled it – the crèche – I had so much fun creating this image.
