Weekend Art Challenge – Cupcakes

For this weeks art challenge we asked our students to draw or paint some cupcakes. There are plenty of variations in cupcake designs and students could create single cupcakes, a scene or cartoon illustration.

We received some absolutely fantastic pieces of art including our featured image this week by Mel Eyeons. Mel painted 5 cupcakes in a line, we love the colours and layout that Mel has used.

Emma Miller’s design of a cupcake below is gorgeous. So simple yet so effective. We hope that you are as impressed as we are! Norman Tharby’s cupcakes look so three dimensional too with his acrylic paste for icing. Well done to everyone that took part. Stay tuned for another art challenge tomorrow!

‘Hurry, before I melt!’  It’s mixed media: watercolour and some acrylic paste.

These chocolate and cherry cupcakes are from a vegan recipe – proving that plant-based cakes look just as tempting.

Cupcakes I’ve designed a pop up card in the shape of a cupcake. It was drawn from an ornament I have in the shape of a cup cake. I’ve used a mixture of chalk, oil and soft pastels

Haven’t done one of these challenges for a while, but I can never resist cupcakes!
