Student Helen Walton has just completed our Beginners Drawing Course and she created some really lovely drawings for her final set. We have also added some text from Helen too and we hope that students enjoy reading it.
Hands – I loved doing this, I have such appreciation of hands and truly believe they are the best tools we have. I am comfortable with pencil and therefore this allowed me to enjoy this exercise. I have not drawn hands before and I feel that my sketch pad will be out most evening sketching hands as I was quite fascinated with it.
Pencil landscape
This went ok, I am happy with the texture of the rocks and the background hills. The water was tricky and it needs developing I feel. I wish I had not put the standing person on the drawing as I do not like the result but the children sitting I quite like. I feel that I need to join the three tier elements together by maybe rounding off at each side as it feels a little disjointed.
Coloured Fruit
I have only used coloured pencils when colouring in with my children and have never used these before to sketch. Initially I was very tentative and had a desire to blend which it wasn’t doing but I soon realised that by building up layers of tones I could blend that way. I would definitely like to try more coloured work.
