Starting off the week with a beautiful coloured pencil drawing by student Amelia Whiffin. When Amelia submitted this for one of her assignments, she also enclosed a photo of the scene she worked from. Many students paint or draw from life, however its not always possible. Taking your own reference photos or using copyright free photos are great ways of practicing painting or drawing.
Amelia has handled the many colours and tones of green well, which is particularly difficult in coloured pencil. Its not easy to layer blues and yellows to achieve green and so its important to have a good selection of green coloured pencils to work with, adding blues and yellows on top if required.
We hope that you find this helpful and inspiring and we look forward to seeing your coloured pencil drawings. Why not email them to us for inclusion on our blog.
Hi I’m from Ireland and thinking of joining you. Do you have any Arcrylic certificate or diploma courses.
Many thanks.

Hi Lourda,
We don’t have a dedicated course for Acrylic as such, however you can definitely use acrylic on the painting and drawing diploma. Im sure your tutor wouldn’t mind you substituting other mediums for acrylic for your assignments too. Why not have a chat to our Course Coordinator Alison on admin@londonartcollege.co.uk and see what she would suggest for you 🙂
Best wishes
